Fencing services in Kohala & Waimea, HI
Resort golf communities on the coast, historic ranch towns up in the hills — Kohala and Waimea cover the widest range of fencing needs on the island.
Does On The Line Fencing serve Waimea and the Kohala Coast?
Yes — we install and repair fencing across Waimea (Kamuela), Waikoloa Village, Kawaihae, Puako, Hawi, and Kapa'au.
Why does this area need such different fencing styles?
South Kohala's resort coast (Waikoloa, Kawaihae, Puako) is dry and often HOA-governed, calling for upscale ornamental iron or aluminum fencing. North Kohala (Hawi, Kapa'au) and upland Waimea are ranching country — cooler, mistier, and centered on Parker Ranch — where wood and field-style fencing fit the working-ranch character.

One region, two very different fencing needs
This cluster covers a lot of ground, literally and stylistically. South Kohala — Waikoloa Village, Kawaihae, and Puako — is the Big Island's other major resort corridor, dry and sunny like Kona, dotted with golf-course communities and beachfront properties that often fall under HOA design guidelines calling for a specific, upscale fence aesthetic.
North Kohala and Waimea are a different world. Waimea sits at higher elevation in the saddle below the Kohala Mountains, home to Parker Ranch — one of the largest cattle ranches in the country — and it runs noticeably cooler and mistier than the coast just a few miles down the hill. Hawi and Kapa'au, further north, are small historic plantation-and-ranching towns with a slower, paniolo (Hawaiian cowboy) character.
Matching the fence to the property
For South Kohala resort and HOA properties, we lean on ornamental iron and aluminum fencing — durable, low-maintenance, and able to pass most community design review standards. Pool fencing is also common along this stretch given the concentration of resort and vacation-home properties.
For Waimea, Hawi, and Kapa'au, wood fencing and field-style fencing fit the ranch and pasture character of the area, and gates matter more here than almost anywhere else on the island — long private driveways and ranch entries are the norm, not the exception.

Kohala & Waimea fencing questions, answered
Can you build a fence that meets an HOA or resort community's design guidelines?
Yes. We regularly work with Waikoloa-area HOA and resort design standards and can build to spec for height, material, and finish before installation begins.
Do you install ranch or pasture fencing near Waimea?
Yes — wood and field-style fencing for pasture and property-line use around Waimea and North Kohala is a regular part of our work, alongside gate installation for long ranch driveways.
Is the weather different enough between Waimea and the coast to matter for fencing?
Yes. Waimea's higher elevation brings cooler temperatures and more mist/light rain than Waikoloa or Kawaihae just down the road, which is one of the reasons we spec materials differently even within this same cluster.
